Spar Holding Public Website and Extranet CMS

In cooperation with partner Digibiz Numotion realised a combined internet and extranet solution to power the Spar brand online and to work more efficiently.

Background

spar logoThe SPAR concept of voluntary trading was first introduced in the Netherlands in 1932. The organization was named DESPAR which is an abbreviation of the Dutch slogan, which when translated into English means, "All will benefit from united co-operation". Although the name was later changed to SPAR, the philosophy still remains the same.

By the early 1940's the success of SPAR had spread to neighbouring countries in Europe who wanted to adopt a similar concept. In 1953 an International SPAR office was opened in Amsterdam to control and further the growth of this unique organization.
The success of voluntary trading has made SPAR the biggest food retailer in the world with 17 500 stores in 32 different countries, employing 180 000 people throughout Europe, the Far East, Africa and South America. SPAR International sales have reached the US $25 Billion mark, which has made SPAR the World's Biggest Supermarket Group.

Spar Website / Extranet ScreenshotSince november 2005 consumers, enterpreneurs and those interested can visit www.spar.nl, the new website of foodsupplier Spar. A clean informative site with a secure area for enterpeneurs from which they can download inventory plans in pdf format and communicate using community tools.

This combined internet/extranet solution has been established in cooperation with partner Digibiz and has been realised in a short time for Spar Holding B.V. Numotion's provides a solid content management platform with Numotion WebManager.
